Jean Grey Returns to Earth in the Aftermath of DNX

Jed MacKay and Rogê Antônio’s five-issue Jean Grey limited series launches this November, picking up directly from the fallout of DNX.

Jean Grey is coming home—and she’s bringing the fire.

After her recent intergalactic adventures as Phoenix, Jean Grey returns to Earth this November in JEAN GREY #1, the first issue of a five-issue limited series from X-Men (2024) writer Jed MacKay and acclaimed artist Rogê Antônio, whose recent work includes Cyclops (2026).

Jean Grey follows directly from the events of DNX, the upcoming X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover from MacKay and artist Federico Vicentini. The crossover’s shocking conclusion sends Jean racing back to Earth, where she discovers that the X-Men’s world has been dramatically transformed in her absence.

The aftermath will have major consequences for MacKay’s corner of the X-Men universe, setting the stage for a new chapter—and putting Jean Grey at the center of it.

“Now, post-DNX, we're going to see the X-Men in a position to need Jean Grey—and Jean Grey in a position to need the X-Men,” MacKay explained. “After all, adding the Phoenix to your team book throws off the balance in a pretty dramatic way.”

MacKay also revealed that Jean’s arrival has been a matter of timing. Her presence on the X-Men was largely held back while the Phoenix series was running, and even after that series ended, he wanted to wait until the right moment to bring her into the team’s story.

That moment has finally arrived.

BURNING ON RE-ENTRY IN THE AFTERMATH OF DNX
The Phoenix is headed back to Earth, but Jean Grey may have more to worry about than simply finding her place among the X-Men.

She returns carrying an extraordinary—and potentially uncontrollable—power. When Jean touches down, will she master the Phoenix’s life-giving and life-taking force, or will the fire consume everything around her?

The consequences of DNX will extend beyond Jean’s new series. X-Men Editor Tom Brevoort teased that the crossover will have a particularly significant impact on MacKay’s corner of the Marvel Universe.

“In terms of after-effects, you already know about one thing that'll be coming straight out of it: JEAN GREY,” Brevoort sayed. “And it'll have an impact on the launch of Maximum X-Men as well, though not to the point where you'll have to have read one to follow the other.”

Brevoort added that the effects of DNX will ripple across several X-Men titles, but the biggest impact will be felt in Alaska and in MacKay’s stories, where the fallout will be “relatively seismic.”

With Jean Grey returning to Earth and the X-Men facing the consequences of DNX, the stage is set for one of Marvel’s most powerful mutants to begin a very different chapter.
